Well, sort of.

Shaley decided to take a defensive driving course to remove the ticket from her driving record. Having a since of humor herself, she decided to take a course from the Comedy Guys (http://www.comedyguys.com/). To promote their online defensive driving course for mobile devices, the Comedy Guys created a Get Moblie! Giveway contest. The heart of the contest involved submitting a funny caption for the contest photograph. Shaley used her fierce copywriting skills to compose her entry and out of the 112 entries, Shaley’s received the most votes, thus winning the iPad 2 by popular vote.

The messaging and design of the website coordinate with various print pieces and trade show exhibits we completed as part of a launch for OST’s new investment offering. Zachry Associates is pleased to have an in-house web developer to make us more cost and time efficient, as well as make the sites part of an overall marketing plan provided by Zachry Associates. The site uses a custom themed WordPress install, which allows OST to manage their own content and easily expand capabilities of the site in the future. The HTML and CSS code were programmed for a Responsive Design which allows the site’s content to dynamically shift and adapt to any size screen–from mobile to desktop–while maintaining the integrity of the look and feel.  And, investors and reps can login to a secure area for the latest information.

The Community Foundation of Abilene

The theme of the annual report is Thomas Edison’s quote, “”There is a Time for Everything”, to emphasize that now is a good time to invest one’s financial assets back into the Abilene community. Elements such as the antique pocket watch, a beautiful script font and CFA’s new corporate colors all combine to create an updated, classic appeal for a great organization. Our creative partners in the project were Cockrell Printing and photographer Gary Rhodes . Take a look to see how all the elements tie together to create the new CFA look.

Aviall asked us to produce a video explaining the complexities and efficiencies of their amazing 500,000 sq. ft. central distribution center in Dallas, Texas. Our work together has resulted in this 3 minute video, with a detailed fly-through in 3D animation by IOD, and beautiful videography and post-production by AMS Pictures.

Aviall has an immense story to tell – and we tell a lot of it in their new “Who We Are” brochure. The booklet covers everything from services to worldwide locations to contact information in 40 global offices. Because the book was digitally printed by Cockrell Printing, it is flexible for future use. The “storybook” is also being adapted for use on iPads as well.

So Bob Nutt, ZA VP who oversees the Creative Services and several of our major accounts, had read with enthusiasm the reviews of Doug and Mike Starnes’ “Big Bambu” a temporary structure of participatory art built on top of the Metropolitan Museum of Art. As a fan of all things New York, Bob was more than happy to wait 4.5 hours in line for a ticket (next to him was a woman from Long Island who sang him every Texas song she could think of). It was the last weekend of the exhibit and required a ticket for a timed tour of the 45 foot tall bamboo maze/sculpture/jungle gym overlooking Central Park’s autumn leaves show.

“It really was amazing,” Bob said. “6,000 pieces of bamboo, and more than 70,000 pieces of rock climbing rope used to tie all the knots. Doug and Mike are twin brothers in their early 40s, who place a great deal of emphasis on ‘connections’ – people to people and people to art. They used rock climbers as the staff to build their designs to keep the design fluid – and the rock climbers are a bit fearless. It’s a unique installation for the Met, as their mission is to conserve and preserve art – not use site specific temporary art pieces.”

No cameras or phones were allowed on the structure, but Bob snapped a few shots with his iphone from the rooftop garden. Take a look.

ZA’s art director Danny Flanagan is speaking today for our client, Rentech Boilers. With his topic of “Web 101 in a 2.0 World” Danny will be presenting to 150 national salespeople about the importance of their having an online presence. That presence can include a personal website, participating in social media and creating a blog. Any of these can be elements of success in relationships with current and prospective clients.

Zachry Associates is pleased we can add this subject to the many other topics our staff speaks on, including branding, marketing and design.

Our main residence was in Leipzig but we traveled to other cities in Germany such as Berlin, Heidelberg, Frankfurt and Weimar. While I did take my Nikon Digital SLR, I ended up documenting the trip with my iPhone using the Hipstamatic app. I typically don’t take the normal “vacation” pictures but wanted to create a photographic journal of our travels. So…I shot over 1800 images with the Hipstamatic in two weeks! My wife says she worried more about losing me in Berlin while I stopped to shoot random images than our five-year-old.

I really enjoyed the unpredicatable nature of shooting with the Hipstamatic, on which you can choose different films and lenses with a swipe of your finger.  You really don’t know what you’re getting while shooting through the postage stamp sized viewfinder and you have a moment of anticipation while it develops. It’s kind of like waiting for a polaroid to develop when I was a kid, but takes several seconds rather than several minutes.

The images convey the stark contrast between the old and new Germany. I experienced standing beneath the balcony where Hitler took power of the Third Riech but also sat on the pews in the St. Nikolai Church in Leipzig where the prayers for peace launched the peaceful revolution that brought down the Berlin wall. The history seeps through the cobblestone streets and buildings that are centuries old, but I also loved shooting the ultra modern buildings that now rise from an ever changing city that is Berlin today.

Pacific Biomarkers Inc. (Pacbiomarkers on twitter) of Seattle, Washington is a new Zachry Associates client. We have been pleased to partner with PBI for research, rebranding the company with a recent name change, redesign of their logo and website and the development of many pieces of collateral. The new website is shown here – unique in the fact that there are hundreds of scientific reports on PBI’s clinical trial tests to include and index. Look for additional pieces of PBI’s branding campaign in the near future.

People always come first. That’s one of the messages of this striking new :30 TV spot Zachry Associates developed for First Financial Bank. As we promote the bank’s services, it was also important to communicate the bank family consists of many different people at different stages of life – and FFB has all the financial services they need. The creative is a unique departure from other spots ZA has done for FFB, with the elegant, contemporary look of duotoned photos, the use of typography and music soundtrack, but no voiceover.
