A real lesson in managing personal brand

Here is a great story on managing one’s personal brand–the correct way.

Using her instincts, relying on manners and her feelings of what is right, Oprah Winfrey has done just that. Managed her brand carefully and thoughtfully. While I’m not historically a big fan of Ms. Winfrey, what she has done over the years and recently speaks volumes to those of us in search of a way to manage our personal brand.

This story (http://tinyurl.com/y99dc97) from the New York Times online, really paints the picture clearly.

My favorite quote from this story is: “Murphy’s Law did not have an effect on her,” said Ava Seave, the co-author of “Curse of the Mogul” and a consultant at Quantum Media. “She never rose past her level of competence. We see a lot of people in media who don’t know what they don’t know, but Oprah Winfrey always seemed to have a clear idea of what she was good at.”

You have to admire someone who knows their strengths and weaknesses and plays to them well.

Kudos, Ms. Winfrey.

Relentless
